Victoria Everett was born in Anniston, Alabama, an only child. In her early years, Victoria spent time with imaginary friends in imaginary worlds. She continued that passion for the power of the imagination into adulthood as she became a mother and a teacher, telling stories to other children.
Victoria grew up reading the works of Judy Blume, and Beverly Cleary. She also loved the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries series. She also grew up with a love for nature. When she wasn’t reading, she was exploring nearby forests or bodies of water.
Victoria has her career roots in both elementary and secondary education. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s in English Language Arts, and also an Education Specialist degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She has also earned a living as journalist for The Jacksonville News, assistant editor for The Baldwin Times, contributing writer to Fairhope Living Magazine, and currently edits for an online magazine, Our Southern Souls.
She is a current member of several professional teaching, editing, and writing organizations: Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) and Women’s Fiction Writers Association. She is currently writing a picture book, American Copy Editors Society, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages International (TESOL).
As a seasoned teacher of more than 18 years in the classroom, Victoria not only writes fiction and nonfiction for children, but also blogs about and writes hands-on manuals and nonfiction materials about her experiences in the field of education, specifically language acquisition, social and behavioral management aspects of the classroom, and how to embrace change as it comes through public education.
Victoria has three adult children, two daughters and a son. She also has seven granddaughters whom she adores. She visits them in Alabama, Alaska, and Florida every chance she gets.
After living in Vermont for a short time, Victoria is back in her hometown and living with the loves of her life: Charlie, the sweetest Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and two cats, “Papa” Ernest Hemingway, and William “Carlos” Williams. When she is not spending time with her animals, she is either reading, editing, or practicing her writing craft.
